IMPORTANT INFORMATION CONCERNING A CHANGE IN THE LAW

Colorado Law requires that all persons officially enrolled in an academy must have undergone
Colorado and Federal criminal history background checks based on fingerprints. Applicants for
HRPSTI will be provided with the special fingerprint card required for these background checks.
Your local Police Department or Sheriff's Office will roll your prints, usually for no fee, when you
explain why you need your prints taken. A $39.50 fee in certified funds (money order or cashier's
check) made payable to "CBI" must accompany the completed fingerprint card when submitted
to the Colorado Bureau of Investigations by each applicant.
APPLICANTS WHO HAVE UNDERGONE THIS PROCESS BY THEIR SPONSORING AGENCY
NEED NOT SUBMIT A NEW FINGERPRINT CARD.

Equal Opportunity

We are an equal opportunity educator, dedicated to a policy of non-discrimination in education
on any basis, including age, sex, color, race, creed, national origin, religious persuasion, marital
status, political belief, or disability that does not prohibit performance of essential job functions.

Federal Law

Federal law prohibits the employment of unauthorized aliens.

Other Requirements

All applicants who are not sponsored by a law enforcement agency must participate in an oral board.
At the conclusion of the oral board, a decision will be made as to the acceptance or rejection of each
applicant.
